Sunan at-Tirmithiy

Abu-Hurayrah said, "The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said, 'Whoever performs ablution and does so well, then attends the Friday prayer, drawing close and listening attentively, will be forgiven what is in between this Friday and the next,[1] in addition to three more days;[2] but whoever touches pebbles has committed a reproachable act.[3]'" Footnotes: [1] Some scholars say that the hadīth refers to the misdeeds done during the previous week, while others say that it refers to the misdeeds that will be done during the next week. [2] i.e. a total of ten forgiven days. [3] i.e. whoever preoccupies himself with any thing other than listening to the sermon will not deserve the reward mentioned in the hadīth.
